Got some good games this weekend, and the game of the week is Tampa Bay vs. Carolina, with Arizona vs. Dallas being a close runner-up. My oh my, are there a lot of really good NFC teams this season. What a change! Of course, there is the ugly game of the week. The hopelessly lost Rams have to travel to Washington to take on the #1 team in the nation. The Vegas spread is quite generous to St. Louis in my opinion -- this game could resemble a college football mismatch before it's done. Enjoy! |

Washington stays on top this week with yet another big win, this time at Philadelphia. Tennessee makes it to #2 in the ratings and are beginning to look like the AFC contender this season, as the Steelers, although on the rise too, are a distant second for AFC teams. Miami rises in a big way this week with their upset win over San Diego, while Buffalo almost falls off the map following their crash at Arizona.

The system had a better week this week than in the past couple, buoyed by picking a couple upsets outright with the Skins over Philly and Pittsburgh over the Jags. Guess that whole bounce-back/hangover idea wasn't too valid after all. |

Updated on 10/5/08 for the Dalls-Cincy and GB-Atlanta games. The spreads on other games have changed, but none of the picks vs. the spread have changed.
This is an intriguing week of football. There are three games on the schedule this week where the home team is in bounce-back mode, while the visitor may be in a hangover game -- Denver vs. Tampa Bay, Philadelphia vs. Washington, and Jacksonville vs. Pittsburgh. The system has all three visiting teams favored to pull an upset, but I'm not so sure. I've not coded in the logic for bounce-backs, hangovers, or trap games, but I have a feeling that all three games would favor the home team, just as Vegas has predicted. Definitely something for me to play with while I recode the system. Good luck! |

Washington takes over the top spot this week with their surprise road upset of Dallas on Sunday, while the Cowboys are a close #2. Tampa Bay makes a nice move upwards with their win vs. Green Bay, and Chicago moves up 11 spots with their big win over Philly. I have to say that I saw both the Dallas-Washington and Chicago-Philly games, and all four of those teams are playing some great football at the moment. Definite NFC dominance going on this year. Perhaps the AFC's long reign at the top may be coming to and end? |
