NFL Predictions for 11/18/07 PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 14 November 2007
Updated 11/15/07

Game of the week:   Jacksonville vs. San Diego.  Both teams are on the rise, and with Indy's recent problems, a rise into the top of the AFC South isn't out of the possibilities for the Jaguars.  Also worth watching are Dallas vs. Washington and Buffalo vs. New England.

Upset alert:  Chicago over Seattle.  The Bears are a much better team than their 4-5 record shows, while the opposite holds true for Seattle and their 5-4 record.  Aside from an early season victory vs. Tampa Bay, Seattle's wins are against the dregs of the NFL this season, but their losses are also to mediocre teams this season.  This one has upset written all over it.

Not a whole lot of movement this week despite the upsets.  New England continues to be very, very good, while San Francisco continues to be very, very bad.  Pittsburgh, San Diego, and Philadelphia make some nice moves up this week, while Indy is still reeling from their loss to the Pats and drops another game and 2 more places this week.

Got bludgeoned this weekend.  Way too many upsets, and none in my favor.  The odd thing about this past weekend is that there was only one team this weekend that outplayed what my system saw as their potential, which was Cleveland and the Browns had a decent chance to win it nonetheless.

So while it's very difficult to predict upsets (and then deal with the one you don't predict), at least it seems like there's some semblance of order beginning to arise this season.

NFL Ratings as of 11/5/07 PDF Print E-mail

New England retakes the #1 spot after beating Indianapolis on Sunday, and seems to have a clear path towards a perfect season at this point.  I seriously don't know who could really challenge them at this point regardless of venue.

Aside from them, there was very little movement throughout the rest of the ratings, as things are beginning to firm up now that we're at the halfway point of the season.  Detroit continues to impress, while San Diego and Jacksonville continue to do their Jekyll and Hyde impersonations this season.  Chicago is the best team below .500, while Cleveland is the worst team above that mark.  Last, and least, is St. Louis, who continues to hold down the first pick in the 2008 NFL Draft and manages to lose further ground despite not playing anyone this week.
